Steampunked Dog Tag

I have got back into my jewellery making lately, so for my Bubbly Funk Piece this week I have altered a Metal Everlasting Keepsake dog tag, using Tim Holtz cogs and game spinner and reclaimed pocket watch items.
I must admit, I have had these for ages and not being a scrapper I was a bit lost as to what to do with them, but when I was poking in my Bubbly Funk Stash draw I came across them and inspirations struck. They are american GI sized tags and are a really nice sturdy metal so they work really well as the basis for a pendant.

Dangly Things

The time is upon us for a new challenge on Happy Daze. I have been lucky enough this month to have the lead item in the challenge and I have made this little bag charm.
It features a domino that has been stamped with the lost coast image 3 flying flower girls and then coloured with alcohol inks.
It is all hanging from a Tim Holtz Toggle charm, the other charms are a mixture of the loose ones for sale in the shop and Prima Vintage Trinkets.
Things have changed a bit for the challenge this month and you can now enter it in three different ways: via the blog with a widget that Moira has installed, via facebook or email your entry direct to Moira herself.
Full details are on the blog of how to enter and be in with the chance of the £15.00 shop voucher and free P & P on your order.

Could It Be Magic ?

A bit Barry manilow there I know lol. But the new Magic gloss resin that is in the shop surely is magic. I got a bottle last week and since then I have been busy trying it out on different surfaces and in different ways and in no way has it failed, add to that the fact that it sets in 10 minutes under a UV light and I am one Happy Bunny.
I have four items to share with you, all using the resin on a different surface to see how it behaves.
This small flip top shrine was stuck onto a piece of Gaffer tape and filled from one side in layers so the small watch cogs were "floated" in it. I then flipped it and filled the side that was originally stuck down on the tape adding a few more cogs in the final layer. It had dried crystal clear and looks lovely (It just was very hard to photograph as it is so shiny.

This is one of the small wooden boxes from the shop that I have altered using paint and rubber stamping. I wanted to see how the resin would dry when it was quite deep in a glass watch front. I set all the cogs in this in the one go so at the deepest point there is about 1cm of resin and it dried really well. Again ignore the nasty bit of camera glare on the lid.

Now this one was the real test. I have tried a few brands of resin and I have never found one that sets well over a stamped stazon image.

I stamped the image on the back of the optical lens using the stazon. poured on the resin waited for it to smudge the image as it usually did but it was fine, so after a few minutes of doing the happy dance I flipped it and added a couple off cogs and a game spinner to the front, layered it in the resin and there it was in under 20 minutes it all set and made instead of the overnight wait that I usually have.

Lastly a basic pair of cufflinks. I just wanted to see how easy it was to dome the resin well and to get a good finish on a basic item like this. I filled these in layers to get a good float affect with them and then I finally domed on a final layer to finish them off. Perfect and the thin layers dried in 5 minutes so these were really quick to make.
Also this resin in odour free and no mixing is involved so if you have ever fancied using resin but the smell or the mixing has put you off, look no further I think this is the perfect product.

The Greatest Show On Earth

A postcard sized concoction in keeping with the current theme on Happy Daze Facebook page. Using Artsitic Outpost stamps from the plates Vintage Circus and Send In The Clowns. Other odd stamps have been used as fillers.
The background has been done with Claudine hellmuth Paints, and the tickets and wording were coloured using Distress Inks.

Tags and IndigoBlue - Pomp And Pageantry

I received some lovely stamps from a new company IndigoBlu, they are a UK company so it's a great oportunity to buy british and support the home market. They sent me four of their new plates and they are lovely. I had to have a quick play with them so I did a couple of quick little tags just to see how they stamped and they stamp really well, not a problem with any of them, lovely clear images from the deep etched red rubber.
All the images on these tags are from the pomp and pageantry set and you can see them here on the site.
I have two favourite plate sets and this is one of them, I love the victorian images on it.
I am going to link these to a couple of challenges this week.

The Angel Of Death

Before we start I apologise for the photo's. This was very hard to photograph
.
Once upon a time there was a little doll who lived in a 2nd hand shop with 4 of her sisters in a bag. One day a lady came along and saw them for 50p, so she brought them and took them home. What they did not know was that the lady was slightly warped and would turn them into strange things and their lives would never be the same again.
My Altered doll for the current Happy Daze challenge on Facebook. The face is made out of UTEE from a mold I made from a skull I have. The doll was wrapped and spritzed and painted and inked and eventually turned into this. It's hanging in my window and my daughter cannot look at it.

It carries a small bottle containing the souls of children and a skull made of their bones.
It has pentagram protection charms on its feet.
So beware children eat your greens or it will come for you.

Picture Perfect

I love these little heart frames, and as the current challenge on Craft Individuals is Vintage with hearts and their little images from the Love letters sheet fit so well into these I thought I would use one for the challenge. I have used the Rubber Stamp CI258 for part of the background.
For all the details of the challenge check out the Crafty Individuals Blog and upload your own piece for the challenge.

A Different View

I have used this stamp before on Domino Pendant. But I was asked on my shop for it in a different colour and this is the result. I quite like the way it looks in the cream and black it has a nice vintage look about it, so I thought I would share it as my Bubbly Funk Piece this week. To see all the details of it look Here on the blog.

A sneak peek - Altered Book

I have a three page artical in this months Craft Stamper Magazine. As you are not allowed to show the whole item here are a few sneeky peeks to look at. If you are out and about and see the magazine I start on page 16.....and yes there is a photo of me lol.

I have used stamps by Crafty Individuals and Stampers Anonymous, lots of embossing powder, viva decor products and fusible films and fibres.

All the items are availabe from Crafty Individuals or Happy Daze.

The technique I used to create the paper background I used is one of Linda's, and a tutorial for it can be found on her blog.

Domino Brooch

I have used some more of the new images from IndigoBlu on this little Domino Brooch. The main image is from the Grand Tour I plate, and the quote that I have used part of around the sides of the domino is from the Grand Tour II plate.
The main image is also available separately and is slightly bigger than the one on the sheet, and its already on eazi mount. I have both sizes and I can see this is an image I think I will use a lot.
