I wanted to play with some new Oil Pastels I got recently. I got them to colour in images with as I fancied a change from the pencils I usually use. I have seen Helen using these to great effect, and I just had to try them. I got mine from Paper Artsy. I only used them on the images, but I am really pleased with them. The background is done with my ever faithful Distress inks.
The images and background were built up with masking.
The Icarus image is by lost coast I just love him. I have used him so much since I got him, but I only today realised I have never blogged him before. His available from Happy Daze.
I did this with the Gothic Arches Challenge of Fly the Nest in mind, Icarus is trying desperately to escape his small town with his hand made flying contraption, I just hope he makes it.

I love this stamp but never use it enough. In Bury we have a tanning salon called Icarus , I laugh snobbishly every time I walk passed it on my way to the Medusa hair salon.EE (there really is tanning salon called Icarus, snigger snigger.)
That's so funny, really made me smile X
Terrific arch Carol and oooh I really want that stamp its fab, x
Love the Gothic arch - it's great. I have a tin of oil pastels and normal pastels for that matter, that never see daylight.
I have seen so many lovely arches on the forum that I am tempted to start joining in again.
It was a shame when the Gothic Arch Swap blog closed down.
Wonderful creation...:)
I have those pastels (a recent purchase) - they're fab aren't they. Love your arch too - great take on the theme.
What a fabulous arch...its great stamp I can hear him calling for help!
Thanks for joining in with the Gothic Arches challenge

What a lovely arch, Carol!
greetings, Alie :-)
The colours are great, the muted BG tones really make the blue of his tunic pop.
Fabulous art Carol, love the colouring of Icarus - not seen him before.
