Stampotique designers Challenge - Use a Stencil

This week for the Stampotique Designers challenge, fellow teamie Jane has challenge us to use a stencil somewhere on out artwork. Now I absolutely love stencils, I can never resist buying them and I use them to death, they always end up so covered in Gesso and paint that I have to soak them in the sink to get all the gunk of them, they always make my husband laugh when he goes into the bathroom and there they all are, swimming around in the sink.

I have used a very basic stencil for my background here, but this is one of my favourites, just random circles, but so useful.

Its on there about 3 times but it all got so layered up with paint and ink that only the last gesso layer can really be seen, but I know they are there, and that is the great thing with them, you can build up layer upon layer with them and sometimes it's just little peeks of some of them, but I do love them.
Once I had done all the lovely messy background I stamped the large word text. It was at this point I decided to join them and so I kicked myself for not stamping across them with the text after I had joined them, bit never mind. I joined them with card strips across the back and then layered another tag on top.

I embossed the hearts (with the tags joined), attached a bit of text paper. I then stamped, coloured and cut out my images. I then layered them onto my tags with a glue stick as a wet glue would have made my background run.

I edged them with black paint and a pen and ink, finally stamping the words and covering them with Glossy accents to highlight them. I added a ribbon tie to each tag.

I used the following stamps.

Text Block #3
Daniel's Hearts
Mothloved
Fofe
Word from the quote "sometimes I pretend"
sqraffiti Alphabet

Do try and make time to enter the challenge, all the details can be found on the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog . You can now use any stamps for the Challenges, but only one entry per person for each challenge. Two lucky people will be drawn from all the challenges for March who will win a $30 voucher to spend on Stampotique rubber.

Stampotique Rubber Stamps are available to buy from Stampotique originals, and in the UK you can buy them from Happy Daze.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, Carol x

So brilliant! Love the two images, and they make a perfect diptych together... All the inky painty layers of stencilling look so cool. Would love to join in but my first Stampotique stamp is sadly sitting at home waiting for my return, so I won't get to play with it until May!!
