Sam has set the theme on the Stampotique challeng blog this week, and she has asked us to use something recycled. This challenge could have been chosen with me in mind as I am a real squirrel and I always have a massive mound of pre-loved things waiting to be used. But I decided for this challenge to do a quick tutorial on a little book that I did a few weeks ago that got a lot of questions about how I had made it. So here it is with the odd photo or two thrown in for good measure.
I started with a piece of packaging that came with a set of rubber stamps (what else would it come with lol) I marked and cut this to a size of 26.5 x 7.5 cm.
You now have a long strip of card, mark this a intervals of 8.5cm, 11.5cm,1.5cm and the end piece is 5cm. This card is straight it's just the camera angle making it look a bit wonky.
Score along the lines,, rub out any pencil marks and then fold as in the following picture to get your cover, punch two holes as shown to put eylets in later.
I now flattened out my cover and decorated it using Gesso, Paint, inks and rubber stamping. I added eyelets to the punched holes.
For the little pockets inside I used 6 wage envelopes, these measure approx 2.5 x 3.5 inches (the same size as an ATC) I cut the flaps off and leveled the tops as shown in the following photo.
I now stuck these together using DTS so they formed a concertina pocket type thing. (technical term that) see photo.
I now attached this to the inside of the cover using DST and positioning as shown. On the shorter side of the cover only go up to the eylet hole with the DST or else you will not be able to get the ribbon tie through the hole.
To finish I coloured some crinkle ribbon using the same inks as I did for the cover. These little envelope books are the perfect size for ATC's or make lovely little holders for journaling tags. You could even do a travel themed one to keep holiday nick nacks in.
I used the following stamps
Pretty Zara
Seaweed
Abby's Hearts
Row of numbers
Tall Word Collage (wish word)
You can now use any stamps for the Challenges, but only one entry per person for each challenge. Two lucky people will be drawn from all the challenges for July, who will win a $30 voucher to spend on Stampotique rubber. So make sure you go over to the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog to enter.
Stampotique Rubber Stamps are available to buy direct from Stampotique originals and in the UK you can buy them from A Sprinkle of Imagination.
Thank you for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial, Carol x

Carol, thanx for this tutorial, Love it!
groetjes Coby
Fantastic project. Love the colours and the little envelopes. Isn't it strange they are still called wages envelopes when probably there are very few people who see their wages arrive like that! Sorry, don't know where that stray though came from but it's out there now. Have a great day. Your lovely project is a bright warm feeling on a weary day
So clever... and really pretty too. Love the background colours. I have got lots of those little envelopes - time to play! Thanks so much for the inspiration.
