A pocket full of sunshine for Paperartsy

I am sure we are all hoping for a better summer this year and with this in mind I have made a nice bright sunshine tag folder the cheer myself up.

 

It has lots of tags, home made stickers, washi tape and ribbon clips.

Mustard and Blue for PaperArtsy

The current Challenge theme at PaperArtsy is Mustard and one other colour.

Box of Eggs for PaperArtsy

I am very pleased to be on the PaperArtsy Blog tonight with a post for their "Box of Eggs" challenge. 

It's a colour challenge and I have used some of the latest paint releases for my egg colours, along with one of the new Hot Pick stamp releases. I do love the weather vane image on this set, in fact the whole set is so usable for backgrounds and you can as I have here make elements of the images pop off the background a little bit by highlighting them with colour in places.

It's Grungy at That's Crafty

The latest challenge at That's Crafty is Grungy.

I have used  a selection of paints and mediums on a MDF tag to create my background, before adding one of the lovely mushrooms from the PaperArtsy set ESC05.

The latest challenge at That's Crafty is "Grungy"

I have a MDF tag using one of the Greyboard Flowers.

I have added lots of texture to the background with a thick layer of gesso through a stencil and other bits and pieces.

Gold and Silver Challenge

The first challenge of the new year is over on the That's Crafty Challenge Blog today.

I have altered one the the MDF tag shapes for the challenge.

I have used a #10 tag, these tags are great you can throw absolutely anything at them and they just take it.

I have also included one of the latest stencil releases from That's crafty. These will be released on the Hochanda shows on Monday.

That's Crafty Challenge, All of a Sparkle

The new challenge at That's Crafty this week is "All of a Sparkle".

I have used one the their large Acrylic tags #10 as the base for my make, using paints, Dinky stencils and my small round Gelli Plate from this set for my background on one side of the tag and then more stencils and sparkly stuff on the other side.

I will be doing a video tutorial on this next week.

Celebrating Alice

As anyone who knows me well will know I do love to make things with an Alice In Wonderland theme.  

So to celebrate the release of Alice Through The Looking Glass I have used some of my Alice themed rubber stamps from Stampotique to make a tag.

I have also used Roc's great cups in my background and an all time favorite stamp of mine Daniel's Hearts.

I am planning to go and see the film this weekend, I am sooo looking forward to it.

Woo Hoo it's is Wednesday again and that can only mean it is time for a new challenge on the Stampotique Designers Blog.

This week Kristen has chosen the theme of a TV show or Movie inspired project.

I have a film that has a particular memory for me from when I was young and being a little bit bad.
When I was younger we lived in a house that had a large glass door on the living room and you could sit on the stairs and watch TV through the door. I used to creep downstairs when I was supposed to be in bed, sit on the stairs and watch TV.
One night Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds" was on, I was only about 8 and I remember it scared me so much that I screamed and gave the game away and I had nightmares for ages afterwards.
I have used the film as the inspiration for my Tag.

My Background is done using my Gelli Plate and DecoArt Media paints before adding details with stamping and Gesso.

My birds on a wire are stamped directly onto my tag with black archival ink, my quote was stamped onto the margin of a book page and then stuck in place. Adding some Crackle Paint through a stencil that I coloured with Media Paint.
Finishing with a couple of wiggly lines of machine stitching.

Prompt Tags

The latest challenge for Stampotique has been chosen by Kathi with the theme of "crack me up"
she has asked us to use crackle on our make and to give it a humorous theme.

I am in the process of making a tag book, this is intended to give me a bit of an prompt book for stamps and techniques that I love to use.

I have added a tag using the challenge this week as a prompt to use crackle on my projects. I mixed my DecoArt media Crackle paint with some fluid media acrylic to colour it before applying trough a stencil as the last step on my tag.

These are some tags that came on some clothes, they are lovely heavy grey card so I gave them a couple of coats of Gesso as a base, it is the direct stamping onto the gesso that gave my main image the worn look that it has in the photo, I was not sure about this at first as on the plain white tag it looked just badly stamped, but once I added in my colours and other stamping I liked the worn look of the image. Adding a smudge of colour to the dresses with my colouring pencils just seemed to finish it off.

It's Mardi Gras week at Stampotique

Kathi is the host for the Stampotique Challenge this week.
She has used the Mardi Gras as her theme.
This is what she has to say about her challenge.

"The colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green, or gold. Use them or the symbols of Mardi Gras -- Fleurs de Lys, masks, costumes, or music! Let the good time roll!"

I have made a tag this week, I used the colours Purple Green and gold on my Gelli plate to make my basic background and then added other elements to it with stenciling, (there are some Gessod Fleur de Lys under here somewhere) stamping and doodling. 

I also outlined the image in white pencil as it seemed to dark against the background and this seemed to make it pop off the tag a little bit.

Finishing it off with a quote and a little bit of machine stitching around the edges.

Shades of Red and Pink

This week Sue is hosting the Stampotique challenge.

 The theme is use shades of red and pink and create a valentines day inspired creation.

I have a tag for you this week with the lovely Mela hanging about waiting for Mr or Miss right to come along, so she is keeping on with her life in the meantime, making it all count and enjoying herself in her pretty pink dress.

My background was done using only Pyrrole red paint combining it with Decoart White tinting base to give me various shades of red and pink. I stamped French Journal in Red over the entire tag, this is a lovely large stamp and was perfect for this. I then picked up my left over paint with an old credit card and scrapped it through a couple of stencils to frame around where my image was going to stand.

I coloured and stuck my image down and then added some white doodles to the middle of the reddest spots on the background.

I stamped my quote directly onto a scrap of pink tape and added this to the tag securing it at each end with some machine stitching.

I then finished my tag with some stitching around the sides and to give the image something to stand on.

First challenge of 2016 on the Stamptique blog today, and I must admit this is the first time I have been on my blog since my previous post on the 24th December, time has just flown by and my head seems a bit fuzzy from the lack of doing anything over Christmas.

Claudine is our host this week for the Challenge and she has asked us to use a tree on our project this week.

This are her thoughts behind her challenge.

"Trees have always been such a source of life for many living creatures, I just love them. I challenge you to create something with a tree incorporated somehow."

I have made a tag this week with my latest thing to do which is finger painting, No paint brushes were harmed during the making of this tag.

My tree is embossed in black on top of my painted background.

Gelato circles and a quote were added to complete it.

At The Movies

 Ohh It's Wednesday so that means a new challenge at the Stampotique blog. This week Corrie has asked us to use the theme "At the Movies"

I have a tag to share and it looks like it's the stills from a screen test, I reckon it must be some kind of Christmas Horror Film!!

I have a yummy background with layers of paint and rubber stamping, over which I have layered a Tim Holtz film strip. Finishing the whole thing with a quick wizz round on my sewing machine.

Sam is the mastermind behind the theme for the challenge this week at the Stampotique Designers Blog.

She has asked us to use a box, and old box, a new box, part of a box, it's up to you so long as it was or still is a box.

I have a husband who loves Chocolate Raisins and these always remind me of Rabbit Poo, but for the challenge this week they are having to pretend to be Reindeer Poo all wrapped up in a sweet box to give them that yummy goodness that all sweets should have.

I stamped my box with a Snowflake Stamp in black ink and then went over all the little snowflakes with Yellow Stickles. My box quote is computer generated.

My Tag is a couple of shades of DecoArt media paint with gold smudged over the top and then stenciling added with one of my favourite stencils of the moment a Dinky Snowflake stencil. Then finished off with lots of stamping and a few more stickles to give it a bit of bling.
