What we made at our Hels Sheridan workshop

My sister and I recently met up to do a workshop together at Birds in the Barn in Marks Tey in Essex. It was a Hels Sheridan workshop and this is what we made.

There was lots of rubber stamping using the Yummy Crafty Individuals Stamps combined with lots of paint and treasure gold. It did make me come home and drag all my christmas Dies out of the dusty corner of my craft room where they live, so I think you will see them being used a bit of the never week or two.

I do have a couple of makes inspired by this class that I will share later this week, especially the patchwork background, although I had used this technique before I had forgotten all about it so I wish to thank Hels for giving my memory that much need poke to remember it.

My sister and I both really enjoyed ourselves, so I thought I would share what we made with you and also to thank Hels for a fabby class.

Demo at Birds in the Barn

A quick little demo from me today at birds in the barn at the Poplar Nursery in Marks Tey. The Nursery has its charity event today and so I offered up my services to demo for them for a little while.

I will be using Crafty Individuals stamps and those odd numbers and letters that you get left over from your sets.

New Workshop Dates

I have added some new workshop dates to the side bar of the blog. The demo day is a free and you can just turn up and watch me make a mess. I will mainly be using Crafty Individuals christmas stamps, or tweaking other stamps in their range to give them a christmas makeover.
All the workshops are Art Journalling and if you have not attended any of my previous classes it doesn't matter as they are all stand alone classes and equally messy in their own right, so if you like journalling and would like to see you hands go lots of different colours give the shop a ring to book your spot on 01206 211099. The regular attendees are a lovely friendly bunch of ladies and any newcomers would be made very welcome.

Crafty Individuals Display Board

I did a demo earlier in the year at Birds in the Barn using the melt pot. I made loads of samples and most of them were along the front of the table where I was working so people could pick them up and look at them. But when I had finished all my prepping I was looking at what I had made and the colours of these pieces all seemed to fit nicely together so I decided to make them up onto a little display board and leave to stand up in the shop afterwards.
My background is just a piece of MDF that I applied grunge paste to before framing with some wood and then painting and highlighting with some Treasure Gold, nothing to fussy as I wanted the bits and bobs I had made to be the focus, and not the background.

Birds in the Barn workshop

I am teaching an Art Journal class tomorrow morning.  It's going to be very inky, painty and just generally messy, so it will be fun. I don't know if there are any places left, but if you are interested you could give the store a ring to find out.

Birds in the Barn Demo Day

I am at Birds in the Barn tomorrow demoing the melt pot and other messy stuff. If your in the area do pop in and see me. I am there between 10.30 and 3.30. The Barn is on the Poplar Nursey site and is nice and easy to find at the back of the nursey with lots and parking and even a nice restaurant to park your husband in while you come into the shop.

This is a little peek of one of my demo boards for the melt pot, there will also be a lot of other bits and pieces there and my DVD will be available to buy.

July Issue of Craft Stamper Magazine

The July issue of Craft Stamper magazine is out to buy today. I have a little beach hut assemblagh using drift wood and a little beach hut in this issue. It is a nice issue of the magazine with lots of beach themed makes, and who knows it may tempt the sun to realise it's summer.
I have used on of my favourite images on this, the bathing belle by Crafty Individuals. Also the little beach hut is available from my local craft shop Birds In The Barn, where I will be demoing next month.
