I keep the spare christmas tree bulbs in this box and when I got it out this year I had happend to just received the Tim Holtz snowflake die with matching embossing folder and it fitted onto the top of this box like it was made for it, do now this looks pretty and sparkly on my sideboard while still keeping my spare bulbs handy incase I need them.

Vintage Challenge

The latest challenge on the That's Crafty Blog is vintage, so I thought what a perfect excuse to start on Christmas.

I have a tag for the challenge using the stamp and die set from Tim Holtz  available from the shop.

I added a bit of bleach stamping for my background before laying all the other bits onto my tag.

Stampotique SDC 128 - Anything Goes

It's the last week of the December challenge on the Stampotique blog this week. Full details of the challenge can be found HERE.

I have made a little shadow box frame using some of my Favourite Stampotique Christmas stamps. The box is a different take on the one I did on a recent workshop I went to and the original can be seen HERE on my blog. I have used grunge paste to give the frame a nice bit of texture, before painting and adding some stamping it.

I used

O Joy
Oh My Dear
Winter
Christmas Ornaments Cube
Snowman
Underwhere
Small Tree Topper
Design Cube
Word Collage
Bubbles
Snowflakes
Merry Kiss-mas

You can now use any stamps for the Challenges, but only one entry per person for each challenge. But remember no Digi's. Two lucky people will be drawn from all the challenges for December who will win a $30 voucher to spend on Stampotique rubber. So make sure you go over to the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog to enter.

Stampotique Rubber Stamps are available to buy from Stampotique originals and in the UK you can buy them from A Sprinkle of Imagination.

Happy Christmas. Carol x

Steampunk Brooch

I have been having a bit of a faff today tidying up my desk from christmas and I found this buried under a pile of stuff. I made it for the blog in December and them promptly lost it before it was photographed but it was very handy to find it as what I was making has gone horribly wrong. ( I put something down on it by mistake before the glossy accents was dry)

This  little brooch I made using one of the Bezel Frames in the shop. A few reclaimed watch parts, a new Tim Holtz game spinner and a swooping bird charm. It's all sealing into the bezel with Lisa Pavelka resin .

Christmas Scrapping For Happy Daze

I don't scrap but I do love some of the papers available. As soon as I saw this set in the shop I just thought how well they would fit onto the little wooden blocks that I am in love with at the moment. I have a pile of these on a wooden chest of draws in my hallway. I add a set each year as it's lovely when I get the decorations out each year to see the older sets and it brings back memories of that year. I have been doing this for about five years now and I am getting quite a pile of them.
For this years set I have used the Pink Paislee sheet , its very good value for these as on the sheet you get 25 images and you only need 24 for a set of four bricks so you have a spare incase you cut of sants's head whilst cutting out.(blushes)
These are a set of 4 bricks which I painted with claudine hellmuth Paints using the crackle technique between the layers. Once dry I roughed up the edges of the cut circles using a paper distresser and then stuck one of each face of each brick using multi medium.
Once dry I aged them up a bit using Old Paper distress ink on an applicator. with out the drying time these took about half an hour to make, so they are a quick and easy project and not too messy if like me you have had a good tidy up of the craft room for Christmas.
I may add a some stickles to them I have not decided yet. But you can jazz these up as much or a little as you wish, they are fun to make and look really effective.

I used
Pink Paislee paper
multi medium
paints
stickles
Blocks
distress ink
paper distresser

Steampunk Gentleman Box

Ohhh its Wednesday and my turn to blog for Happy daze I nearly forgot (blushing smiley) Today I have a little altered cheese box to share.
It's been covered with tissue tape(to hide the horrible mess I made of it when I painted it, tissue tape is perfect for this lol) I then spritz it with a mister to age it a little bit and take away the shiny newness of it.
After adding a stamped image I embellished it with Tim Holtz cogs and spinners, a word tag a small pair of binoculars and a key.
A quick easy little make and a perfect man present.

Items I Used.

Little Black Dress

Not a dress, but the challenge theme this month on the Happy daze Blog is the craft item you could not live without, in my case I cannot live without any of them, so I just dug through my wonderful stash from the happy daze shop and got to work.

This week I am still in love with the multi-medium and distress stain technique so I have made a little gift box using the stains, inks and medium to decorate it.

I co-ordinated the theme of the box to tie in with a pendant I have made using some the the charms and Tim Holtz ideology pieces for sale on the site.

First of all the box. I made the basic box using a box maker and a fairy sturdy card. I cut a piece of card to fit the lid, I first of all inked this using distress inks in chipped sapphire and spiced marmalade. I then choose my stamp. I have used the quote from the Artistic Outpost set Happiness. I put a small splodge of Multi medium onto my craft mat and then "inked up" the stamp with this before stamping it onto the inked square. I them heated this to dry it. Once dry I took my distress stain in dusty concord and applied this over the square of card ensuring that it had a good coverage. The multi medium resists the stain and the quote will show though in the distress ink colour, I love this bit, it's like magic.

I then glued the square to the lid of the box and inked the sides and cut edges of the square with the same distress inks and stain. I then thought it all looked a bit flat so I took my favourite stamp a basic crackle background (great for a filler), inked it up in the spice marmalade and randomly stamped it over the lid and sides.
The Pendant I have used one the large butterfly's as a base for this. (these are so popular that as soon as Moira gets them into stock they are all sold again, so do sign up for the email alerts to be informed when they come back into stock so you don't miss out as they are gorgeous)

I added a Tim Holtz Ideology cog to the centre of the butterfly and topped this off with a reclaimed watch cog from my personal stash. I then attached chain to the top parts of the butterfly, adding Tim Holtz Ideology cogs and game spinners as shown, using jump rings to join them all together to form an interesting and decorative chain for the butterfly. This was really quick to make but it looks so effective that it could have taken you hours.

All the DT members are trying on their little black dresses this month and as usual this is linked to the monthly challenge and you can find all the details of this here.

Just for Fun

This week on Just for fun the theme is to use corrugated card on a project. I have incorporated the theme into a tag using one of the new Crafty individual stamps CI-322, I think this is probably my favourite of their new releases. I like the JFF challenge as it seems a very relaxed challenge. I have had this on my desk half done for a couple of days, but life had got in the way of crafting as it has a habit of doing with me at the moment so I was wondering if I would even get this small piece of crafting finished, but lucky for me my sister Jackie was here today, so as she is a dab hand with the colouring, in she coloured the image for me using distress inks.
The tag is coloured using Claudine Hellmuth gesso and paint available from Happy Daze.
The flowers I have made using vintage music paper and Tim Holtz dies, the stalk and leaves are cut using movers and shapers dies. The music paper has been coloured with adirondack colour wash and perfect pearls mists.
I am going to put a small easel die cut on the back of this and hey presto it becomes a card.

Captured fairy Jewellery Box

I had had this little fairy buzzing around my room for the last few nights causing havoc, knocking things over and being very naughty, I eventually managed to catch her, the first thing that came to hand was an old pocket watch front and as soon the fairy landed on this little box I managed to get the watch front over it. As with all fairies as soon as they are caught they freeze and become suspended in time until they are freed again. But I must admit I think she makes a lovely addition to the top of this box.
The box is one of the wooden ones from the Happy Daze shop. I first of all gave it a coat of modern masters copper paint which I treated with the green patina finish to age it.
All the watch parts are purposed from old pocket watches and clocks. The clock hands are two game spinners that I have cut down. The fairy charm,Dragonfly and numbered pin are all available from the shop.
Once everything was in place I gave it a light coat of resin to hold it all in place and give it a nice shine. I also painted the sides of the box with the resin as it makes it go a lovely colour.
Th When it was all dry I gave it a quick rub over with some Viva Decor Inka gold just to give it a bit more of an aged look.
The Feet are the Tim holtz Foundations box feet and Key Hole is one from the Tim Holtz Locket key Set

Please Note: No Faries were hurt during the making of this box LOL

As This has a dangly key on it, it will also fit in with the current challenge this month of Dangly Things. Have a look HERE to see all the details of how to enter.

Dangly Things

The time is upon us for a new challenge on Happy Daze. I have been lucky enough this month to have the lead item in the challenge and I have made this little bag charm.
It features a domino that has been stamped with the lost coast image 3 flying flower girls and then coloured with alcohol inks.
It is all hanging from a Tim Holtz Toggle charm, the other charms are a mixture of the loose ones for sale in the shop and Prima Vintage Trinkets.
Things have changed a bit for the challenge this month and you can now enter it in three different ways: via the blog with a widget that Moira has installed, via facebook or email your entry direct to Moira herself.
Full details are on the blog of how to enter and be in with the chance of the £15.00 shop voucher and free P & P on your order.

Tags and IndigoBlue - Pomp And Pageantry

I received some lovely stamps from a new company IndigoBlu, they are a UK company so it's a great oportunity to buy british and support the home market. They sent me four of their new plates and they are lovely. I had to have a quick play with them so I did a couple of quick little tags just to see how they stamped and they stamp really well, not a problem with any of them, lovely clear images from the deep etched red rubber.
All the images on these tags are from the pomp and pageantry set and you can see them here on the site.
I have two favourite plate sets and this is one of them, I love the victorian images on it.
I am going to link these to a couple of challenges this week.
